Area catfisherman Phil King broke recently broke a long standing record. Phil along with his teammates weighed in the first catfish over 100 lbs in the Big Cat Quest Championship. The tournament was held on November 3-4 on the Mississippi river out of Memphis. This is not the largest catfish ever caught but was the largest catfish weighed in at a tournament. The fish weighed 103lbs. Phil and his team ended up winning the tournament even though a 108 lb fish was weighed in the next day. See picture below. | The 108 lb fish was weighed in by Harold Dodd and teammates. Harold is a former resident of Lexington and the brother-in law of Larry Scott, an employee here at Beech Lake Marine. The total winning weight for the tournament was 291 lbs. with the second place team weighing in 222.70 lbs. Phil King runs a catfishing guide service.
